Victoria Villasana
Victoria Villasana was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1982, Victoria Villasana is a textile artist influenced by cultures connecting with each other in a fragmented, post-digital world. She was particularly inspired by the East London street art scene where she began showcasing her embroidery images on the streets, quickly becoming well-known in the community for her rebellious femininity and acute cross-cultural imagery. The dynamism in her work derives from the way the yarn is left uncut, far below the frame like untold stories, giving a surreal aesthetic reflecting the acceptance of transience and imperfection.
