Number 34
Jackson Pollock

Paul Jackson Pollock (January 28, 1912 – August 11, 1956) was an American painter and a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement. He was widely noticed for his technique of pouring or splashing liquid household paint onto a horizontal surface known as the "drip technique", enabling him to view and paint his canvases from all angles. A founder member of the abstract Expressionist school of painters, Jackson Pollock executed his Number 34 in 1949. Number 34 is so titled following Pollock's decision to merely number and not otherwise title his works in 1948
